Membership Fees and Types of Membership
The membership year of Southampton U3A is 1st April - 31st March.
Our annual membership fees include a £4 capitation fee to our national organisation, the Third Age Trust, which provides a wide range of services and benefits. They produce a bimonthly magazine u3a Matters with information about other groups and activities. (Members who already belong to another U3A, ie Dual members, do not need to pay the capitation fee and will not receive a copy of u3a Matters through Southampton U3A.)
The fees include an emailed bi-monthly newsletter which informs you of what is happening in Southampton U3A. If you require a printed copy of the newsletter, there is an additional charge of £20 for the year, which helps pay for printing and postage.
Our current full year fees are as follows:
Full (email newsletter) £10.00
Full (printed newsletter) £30.00
Dual* (email newsletter) £6.00
Dual* (printed newsletter) £26.00
*Please note that Dual membership is for people who also belong to another U3A, not for 2 people jointly. Unfortunately we do not offer joint membership for two people at the same address. If you select Dual membership you will be asked to provide the name of the other U3A you belong to.
Members who join between 1st October and 31st December in any year pay a reduced fee, which will give membership until 31st March of the following year. (Full, email newsletter £7, full printed newsletter £15, dual email newsletter £3, dual printed newsletter £11.)
Members who join during January-March pay the full membership fee but will not be asked to renew until the following year, meaning that they get up to 3 free months membership.
Members who join between 1st April and 30th September pay the full membership fee which covers until until 31st March of the following year.
GIFT AID
Please note, the Gift Aid declaration below applies if you choose to select YES in the Gift Aid box on your online Application Form, or if you intend to give Gift Aid in the future. If you do not select Gift Aid, and you do not intend to give Gift Aid in the future, then you can disregard the following Gift Aid statement.
I would like Southampton U3A (registered charity no. 1057642) to treat as a Gift Aid donation my annual subscription and subsequent payments I make from the date of this declaration until I notify you otherwise. I pay UK Income Tax each year at least equal to the tax reclaimed and I will notify you if I cease to do so.
EMAIL ADDRESS
Southampton U3A will only use your email address in relation to our administration and associated activities, but it will be the main method of communication.
EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER
We encourage all members to provide an emergency contact number of someone who is unlikely to be participating in a U3A activity at the same time as yourself. This will only be used in case of emergency during U3A activities (e.g. someone taken ill, or had an accident).
MEMBER DETAILS RETENTION
By submission of the online joining form you agree to the inclusion of your details in the Southampton U3A membership website database. The database will only be used for administration purposes in line with the Southampton U3A Data Protection Policy, a copy of which can be viewed here.
If you have trouble making a payment please contact our membership administrator at membership_admin@u3asouthampton.org
